ACCESS DATA

Publicly-Available Data:

The first 10 years of NGHS data and biospecimens from all three original study sites are available from the NHLBI BioLincc resource: https://biolincc.nhlbi.nih.gov/studies/nghs/

Additional Follow-up Data:

The Cincinnati site of NGHS continued to follow participants for an additional 7 study visits over the next 10 years, which included assessments of body composition using DXA, echocardiograms and two measurements of visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue using MRI. In addition, several ancillary studies were funded to explore particular topics, including acne/hirsutism, TMD/fibromyalgia, grip strength, pain perception, pregnancy outcomes in adolescence, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Data from these additional visits is available by contacting the PIs, Dr. Urbina or Dr. Woo. A manuscript proposal form can be downloaded here. IRB approval and a Data Use Agreement are required prior to transfer of data. There may be a charge for assembly of a dataset depending on project requirements.

Collaboration/Ancillary Studies:

The NGHS study investigators are open to opportunities to collaborate with other investigators to design ancillary studies involving the NGHS cohort. These studies may involve analysis of existing data or biospecimens, or through additional follow-up of the cohort. Interested investigators should contact Dr. Urbina or Dr. Woo to discuss opportunities.

Post-doctoral students are also invited to develop a project involving the NGHS cohort under the supervision of Drs. Urbina and/or Woo. We also encourage summer students (graduate, medical or undergraduate) to work with NGHS data for a summer project.
