NGHS Cincinnati: Meet the Team!

Faculty

Elaine M. Urbina, MD, MS is the Principal Investigator of the NGHS Study in Cincinnati. She is a pediatric preventive cardiologist with a clinical practice focused on children with obesity, hypertension and lipid disorders. Dr. Urbina’s research is focused on cardiovascular epidemiology across the lifespan, with expertise in cardiovascular imaging.

 

Jessica G. Woo, PhD, MHSA is a key investigator on the NGHS Study in Cincinnati. She is a pediatric epidemiologist, with research interests in childhood obesity, metabolic dysregulation and lifetime cardiovascular impacts. She also is interested in the role of pregnancy in cardiovascular disease development.

 

Staff

Tetyana Zhelay, PhD (Clinical Research Coordinator). Tetyana is the lead coordinator for the Pregnancy and Cardiovascular Risk study and is also a coordinator for the NGHS DECADE study. She has a PhD in Biophysics.

Sarah Millard (Clinical Research Coordinator). Sarah was centrally involved in the recent cardiovascular health follow-up study and is also a coordinator for the NGHS Healthy Aging study and NGHS DECADE study. She has over 9 years’ experience as a CRC.

Shalayna Woodly (Clinical Research Coordinator). Shalayna is a coordinator with the NGHS Healthy Aging study, the NGHS Pregnancy and Cardiovascular Risk Study and the NGHS DEACDE study. She is also the manager of the NGHS biorepository. Shalayna was also involved with the NGHS study during the last two in-person visits in 2002-2005, so she has a long history with this study.

Marta Russell (Clinical Research Coordinator). Marta is a coordinator with the NGHS Healthy Aging study, the NGHS Pregnancy and Cardiovascular Risk Study and the NGHS DECADE study.

Erin Cain (Clinical Research Coordinator). Erin is the lead coordinator for the NGHS DECADE study and recently joined Cincinnati Children’s as a CRC.

Philip Khoury, PhD (Senior Biostatistician). Dr. Khoury has been with the NGHS study since the early 1990s. He has published several papers using data from this cohort and continues to provide oversight and analysis for the study data.
